I had the honor of capturing this special day of a dear family that was a huge part of my life and how I came to know Jesus when I was a teenager. Faith is my best friend’s little sister; the daughter of my youth pastor. I remember four years prior to this, Charity got married. Her day was calm, filled with contagious joy, and intentional moments. Faith’s day was exactly this. Her day started off spending time with her sisters, best friends, and parents. They relaxed getting ready, had some hot cinnamon rolls, and of course, coffee. Mix in a lot of laughter, tears, and hugs.

Treche, Faith’s mother, was a bit more emotional this day; Faith is the last one of her daughters to get married. Faith is their baby, their third daughter. I cannot even imagine the day that we marry off our last daughter, Joy (hopefully that will be a long time from now!) but I can relate the love we have for our children and how fast time moves, even though my oldest is only 4 years old! As Treche kept saying, “it goes by all too fast.”

Faith had a peaceful ease about her and Tim had a contagious joy and laughter about him. Two things were clear on this beautiful wedding day. Firstly, Tim loves Faith. You know that look when a guy sees a girl and it’s as if there is nothing else in the room but her? Well that’s how he looked at her half the time (that’s if he wasn’t laughing or making Faith laugh). Secondly, Faith and Tim love Jesus. Their wedding day wasn’t so much about the decorations or perfection, but it was about glorifying God on this beautiful celebration of this man and woman coming together.

Their day was perfect. But most of all, their marriage is and will be beautiful. I can see the strength of their marriage already and the perfect balance between these two beautiful souls. Congratulations and hope marriage has been everything you all imagined!! The best is yet to come!!

Shahana and Marc have known each other since they were kids. They are childhood sweethearts and you can tell they are perfect for each other. They exude energy and a fun time, while being genuinely invested and interested in everyone they come across. They both went to James Madison University and are devoted duke dogs! I had a blast capturing their wedding day, the little moments, the colors, their personalities, and how they love each other so deeply.

My favorite moment of the day: When Marc saw Shahana walk down the aisle. In that moment you could tell how much he loves her and how much their families love them. Everyone was crying so of course, I began to tear up.

So excited to hang out with you two in a few days to show you all the images and the album design! I’ll make sure to get cupcakes 🙂

Grace Olivia was born July 12, 2011 at 7:29am. I remember that moment with the most intricate detail. My husband’s face was framed by a bright orange otterbox, my parents holding my hands standing behind my head, and the most beautiful cry I heard. Grace was born while my husband Steven was deployed and we were not reunited until she was nearing her 6th month. So to say capturing every moment was important would clearly be an understatement. I wanted to capture every moment for him as if he didn’t miss a moment. So this is when I became passionate about capturing the momentous, ordinary, and crazy moments of our life. Since then, I’ve been able to look back at those precious moments when I feel like the past four years have been a blur. Especially through my sleep deprived and fuzzy baby brain. We all know what that is like!

Since teaching workshops, mentoring session, and capturing special moments for couples/families, I’ve come across a common theme… people want to be able to capture ordinary moments of their life, not just with their iPhone, but with their DSLR.

So let’s learn to take the DSLR off of Auto, get past those blurry and bright yellow/orange photos, and learn to use your DSLR to its highest potential.

What was your favorite memory from this past year? Life is so short and time goes by so fast. It all ends up blurring together. Which is why I’m so passionate about capturing all the sweet and precious memories! I think about how the messy peanut butter hands, toys everywhere, and the need for constant cuddles will soon be part of my fondest memories.

My favorite memory was when my husband and I received free VIP tickets to see Little big town! Being a military family we don’t get many date nights and we both work 40+ hours a week. We got a babysitter and enjoyed a night of laughter, beer and great music! It was so wonderful to get that one time last year to remember why we fell in love with each other and get a little break from everyday life for a few hours.ReplyCancel

My favorite memory from this past year would have to be when my daughter met her little brother. Seeing my two beautiful children together for the first time and realizing how absolutely blessed my husband and I are. Seeing the love she had for her brother, the second she laid eyes on him was magical. The 4 of us being together as a complete family was so amazing, and it just gets better every day.ReplyCancel

its hard to chose a favorite memory from last year. I had an amazing last year! I was pregnant with our second baby girl and we as a family made a ton of memories in our last year in Florida. I think my absolute favorite, if I had to pick, was our first vacation as a family of four before we moved back to the DC area. It was a quick weekend away to Sanibel, Florida and it was amazing.bee had so much fun and it was a blast watching my 2 year old and my (then) 2 month old on the beach with their daddy. DC is home, we grew up here, but our time in Florida captured our hearts and we can’t wait to move back someday.ReplyCancel

My favorite memory of this year is the day my husband returned home from his 3rd tour in Afghanistan – Nov 1! But if we’re talking 2015 – my favorite moment would be… NOW. we’re mid move to our next duty station- living in a hotel with a toddler and four animals – and life is a beautiful, chaotic, blissful mess – and I love it!ReplyCancel

A favorite memory from this last year was after awful life changing miscarriage and deployment, waking my husband up the morning of November 10 and showing him one of the greatest gifts God could have given us. WE WERE PREGNANT! We both cried as we looked at the two tests I had silently taken alone while he was sleeping. He embraced me, and I cried some more. Now 22 weeks later we are over halfway through this beautiful pregnancy and we are so anxious to meet our little man in July!ReplyCancel

My favorite memory from last year was returning from my deployment and seeing the excited faces of my 4 year old and 1 year old. My favorite memory from this past year was how excited my kids (and I) were when they saw fireflies for the first time. We were in the backyard of the home we purchased in Maryland. We saw a little flicker of greenish-yellow light. There were suddenly more and more, my kids and I ran around the backyard giggling while trying to catch the lights. It was a truly magical moment.ReplyCancel

Wow…just one memory?? I would have to say it was exploring the Coast of Wales with my husband on our 2nd Anniversary while stationed in England. We had a plan to start at the bottom of Wales and end up in Snowdonia…we unfortunately didn’t stick too that plan because we love getting lost with each other. We did get lost, but it helped us find out so much more about each other that we love! Each day for us is an adventure and getting lost in Wales we found an abandoned church that still had the sarcophogus’ of the family for which the church was named. We found beautiful stone ruins in the middle of, of all things, a field of sheep. Exploring the world with my soldier is the best part of my world.ReplyCancel

My favorite moment of the last year was my son telling me that he had his first “girlfriend.” It brought back so many memories of my first “boyfriend” and I loved the moments that followed sharing my story with him. It was a beautiful moment when he looked at me like I wasn’t just his mom but his friend. I later that day messaged him, the boy who ultimately broke my heart or so I thought at the time, to thank him for giving me a story to share with my children.ReplyCancel

My favorite memory from the last year was finally getting to walk down the aisle and marry my best friend! After spending 2 1/2 years living 1,200 miles apart, we got married on March 25, 2014 (our one-year anniversary is next week!!) in a tiny little chapel in Annapolis. Then we got to do it all over again in front of our family and friends in July.
